An Evening with Gary Lineker
A ribald comedy by Arthur Smith and Chris England, directed by Krysia Blake and Steve Atkins
"Football is a simple game. Twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 minutes and the Germans always win." Gary Lineker
July 4th 1990; in Italy, England and West Germany are about to play the World Cup Semi-Final, and in a Majorca hotel, Monica and Bill are trying to repair their marriage. Monica dreams of Gary Lineker, the "Queen Mother of Football", but has been seeing Dan Hudson, a travel writer and client of Bill. The presence of Ian, a gauche friend of Bill's, and Birgitta, a sexy German tourist rep, ensure that the comedy is hilarious and ribald, whether you like football or not.
